EXHAUSTED

It’s 10:23pm…and I’m still in my work clothes. Today was my third day at Canon and things are going GREAT. I’ve learned that I’ve got a pretty senior position and I’ve got some big responsibilities that have already started piling on my desk. It’s definitely a big change from ED, but anyhoo I’m here to learn. The people I work with are pretty young – I’d say 29-33 is the average age. I’m still the youngest…again. My boss is super cool and a very down to earth kinda guy. I have lots to say about work and my role, but I will at the end of the week, once everything sinks into my brain. Right now I’m on information overload. The cool thing about today is I got to work with an ad agency in NY and one of my first big projects is create a new Canon Micro site for our new product launch. Our theme is COLOURS and it’s really gotta be a fun and interactive site to browse through. In addition, I’ve learned that traveling is BIG in ISG (Imaging Solutions Group) where I belong to. I got my travel profile today, which I have to fill out…I just remembered…shoot. Anyway, my team just came back from a three week Canadian road show with TechData. It’s too bad I just missed that…but at the same time…there are lots more of those coming up. I also joined the Canon Social committee today. They are thrilled to have me on board. I think it’s a great way to meet people…and what better way to do it? *Snicker. They have some neat events each year, so let’s see how I can help for 2007. I also got invited to The Canon Christmas Ball for December 2nd, so I’m excited about that. I get to bring Igor as my “spouse”. Haha.

LAST WEEK…

Other than my new job, I was pretty productive with my time off last week. I ended up doing tons of chores, taking some awesome photos (IMO), shopping…shopping…and shopping my heart out, joining the gym AND actually working out. Peter and I meet on Tues/Thurs and I’ll be going to Pilates on Sat/Sun with Diana and Div. Igor may also join me on Sundays. With Salsa on Wed nights…I’m pretty happy with my “keeping fit and having fun” schedule. Woah. I think I just had a Body Break moment there.

WEEKEND…

Went downtown on Sat morning to get a hair cut at my funky hairdresser. It was my first time visiting her new place since she moved from Queen Street. Igor tagged along and it was great because he got some neat shots of the loft and up on the rooftop. I ended up geting some funky do and cut off all my locks...in order for it to grow back into a really cool layered look. We headed over to lakeshore where I used to have my Dragonboat practices to shoot some photos. After about 5 mins, we hopped back into my car because it was freeeeeeeeeeezing.

Spent the rest of the weekend with Igor, Ivan and Diana playing Carcassonne and Italian cards Sat night and watching an early-bird Borat flick at AMC on Sunday morning. It was pretty funny. I won’t complain…it was $6 for a dead-as-ever theatre, great parking a huge screen and plenty of leg room. Very Niiiiiiiiice.

TONIGHT…

Just got home from Salsa-Week 5 with Igor. We are pretty hot on the dance floor. It’s getting pretty complicated now, but we’re getting the hang of it. Igor just came over and showed me some Photography DVD. He’s seriously hooked…and I can’t blame him. I watched a bit of it earlier and it’s amazing what you can do with a few Photoshop tricks. The guy is also a very engaging instructor. I can’t wait to start once I get settled in with the new job.

RIGHT NOW…

I spent the past hour doing some research for a family friend who just opened up a Florist Shop. My mom promised her I’d help her with her marketing. So here I am…trying to design a 3-fold flyer. I don’t mind…it’s just that…I’m EXHAUSTED and my mom thinks I can do this in 5 minutes.

Anyway, I want to do a good job…and a good deed. But before I do that…I’m going to bed. Ciao.
